Already popular for decades in cooler highland Mexico, this type of hoodie was first brought home to California by adventurers traveling to find the perfect deserted, warm water surf break on the rugged Pacific coastline of Baja California. Sizing

Sizes are true to standard USA men’s sizes – women please buy a size down from your normal size selection.

· Our male model is 6’2″ and 165 lbs (188 cm/75 kg), wearing a Large. For an extra baggy fit, an Extra Large would be fine for him.

· Our female model is 5’7′ and 120 lbs (170cm/55kg), wearing a Small. She might usually wear a Medium when shopping for a women’s hoodie, but since these are Men’s sizes, the Small fits her just right.

Sometimes they’re mistakenly called “ponchos”, which isn’t exactly right because ponchos are a slightly different material, and they don’t have sleeves.

In Mexico they typically call this type of sweatshirt a “sudadera de jerga”, referring to the often recycled material, or a “canguro”, referring to the signature front pocket or “kangaroo pouch”.

Classic weave pattern

A straight, square weave gives this style a timeless, vintage look.

The fabric is a blend of acrylic, polyester, and cotton. We use recycled materials whenever possible, depending on availability.

These are priced a bit lower because the materials are easier to source and easier to work with.

Diamond weave pattern

This pattern and the zig zag are a new, more stylized approach to the same type of hoodie.

The fabric feels mostly same as the Classic, but up close they look entirely different due to the intricate, textured weave aided by a small amount of finer threads.

Zig zag weave pattern
